{television} csi; season one (2000)

Amid the lights of the Strip and the fast action on the tables of Las Vegas is a dedicated task force in the city's police department: the Crime Scenes Investigation Unit, the most highly touted lab in the nation. Headed by Det. Gil Grissom (William L. Petersen), CSI takes on the goriest, most disturbing of cases that would baffle other units. This collection includes all 23 episodes that make up the first season of CBS's groundbreaking series.

My rating: *** (Actually 2.5) I didn't not like it, but I didn't love it. These kinds of shows have never really been my kind of shows, but I'm giving them the chance that I've never given them before. Soon, I'm going to watch shows like NYPD Blue and Law and Order and other cop shows. CSI isn't a bad show, but I don't see what all the hype is about. The characters aren't that interesting, the stories are just ok and slow moving. I might check out season two, but I doubt it. I think I now understand why they use such graphic violence and sexual content: to cover lack of storyline content. The pilot episode was the worst of them all. These kinds of shows are just boring to me. I need more action and storyline development. It did however grow on me after the eighth episode (the first seven are pure crap) and I'm looking forward to season two.
