{television} taxi; season two

The exploits of the drivers and dispatchers at a busy New York City taxi hub are endless in this collection of Season 2 episodes from the classic series. This year, cranky Louie (Danny DeVito) attracts a vendor's affections; Alex (Judd Hirsch) faces his father; Elaine (Marilu Henner) takes on more than she can handle; Latka (Andy Kaufman) is still nutty; and Tony (Tony Danza) and Bobby (Jeff Conway) compete for the same woman's affections.

My rating: *** Not as great as the first season, but still just as funny. Good show. Not my favorite (and I'm not big on 70s television anyway), but still just a fun show. This was the only thing I could stand Andy Kaufman in. Otherwise, I never really found him to be that funny. Tony Danza was hot back then. The show fell from #9 in their first season to #13 this season. The fact that they tumbled from #13 in this season to number #53 in their third seasons make me kind of scared to get the third season. Anyway, adding Christopher Lloyd as a regular to the cast was great. I love the scene with him taking his driving test:

Jim: What does a yellow light mean?

Bobby: Slow down.

Jim: Ok. What...does...a...yellow...light...mean?

Bobby (frustrated): Slow down!

Jim: Okay! What...doooes...a...yelllloooww...light...mean?

Classic stuff!
