{netflix} safe house (2000)

Mace Sowell (Patrick Stewart) is an ex-intelligence agent who once worked for a government hit squad. What's more, he has the goods on a former client -- a man who's now a presidential frontrunner. Add another degree of complexity -- Mace is beset with Alzheimer's disease -- and you have anything but another garden-variety psychological thriller on your hands.

ifreethought.com rating: *** This was a fun movie. Not great, but a good movie. Great role for Patrick Stewart coming out of Star Trek: The Next Generation where, in the final episode as Capt. Jean Luc Picard, we start to see Picard show signs of a futuristic Alzheimer's disease. In this movie, his character, Mace Sowell is a ex-intelligence agent, who has information that will end a presidential candidate's campaign. However, unlike Picard, he has early onset Alzheimer's disease and it's starting to interfere with his life and what is basically his final mission. Stewart, as always, proves himself to be an incredible actor.
