{television} andromeda; season two (2001)

Captain Dylan Hunt (Kevin Sorbo) pilots the starship Andromeda Ascendant for the All-Systems Commonwealth, a galaxy-spanning utopian government. In the second season, the Andromeda finds itself under attack by the vicious Magog, leaving Dylan and the crew wounded and desperate to make an unlikely escape. With its complex, fantasy-based stories, this unique sci-fi television series from Gene Roddenberry has captured the imagination of its fans.

ifeethought.com rating: ** Man, whatever magic this show had in the first season quickly left after the AMAZING first season finale because the second season just couldn't live up to the quality of the first season. Also, series producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe left the show. Episode 12, "Ouroboros", is about the best of the season and is also Wolfe's last script before he left Andromeda. The series didn't really get any better after Wolfe left. While I did enjoy the Star Trek-style turn it took focusing less on the reformation of the New Commonwealth story-arc and more on standalone adventures. However, without Wolfe's superior writing styles, the magic was gone. I'm almost scared to watch season 3.
