HBO's first Emmy-winning series starred Brian Benben as Martin Tupper, a divorced book editor who balances a teenage son (Chris Demetral) and a still-friendly ex-wife (Wendie Malick) while putting himself out there as a single guy. Juxtaposed amid the crazy happenings of Martin's life are scenes from old films that serve as metaphors, providing a peek into his thoughts. Produced by "Friends" team Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane.

ifreethought.com rating: ** Don't love it. Didn't hate it. Had a hard time even liking it. The characters aren't that deep, the actors aren't that good (except Denny Dillon as Toby Pedalbee), and the stories are just ok. It was good background noise during work. Kauffman and Crane did much better work with Friends.
