{television} hearts afire; season three (1994)

A year after ditching big-city politics, John (John Ritter) and Georgie Anne (Markie Post) Hartman are settling into small-town life, helping their friend (Billy Bob Thornton) revive the local newspaper. (Based on their chemistry in "Hearts Afire," Thornton would later cast Ritter in his Oscar-winning directorial debut, Slingblade.) This collection of episodes from the show's third and final season includes one previously unaired misadventure.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** Not nearly as good as the first season, and only slightly as good as season two, I still like this show, but I can see why it was cancelled. The second season changes hurt the show significantly while, oddly enough, at the same time, giving it a breath of fresh air. However, by the third season it kind of just hung on life support and you could smell the pending death as it went on, becoming just another '90s sitcom lost in the shuffle. Still funny stuff though.
