{television} melrose place (1992)

Enter a realm of love, lust and lies surrounding the sexy residents of California's Melrose Place as they experience budding romances, backstabbing and emotional breakdowns in pursuit of their dreams. This DVD collection, which gathers all 32 episodes from the popular primetime soap's first season, will prove to be a guilty pleasure of torrid love triangles and tumultuous relationships featuring a cast of unforgettable characters.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** When this first aired, I wasn't into it at all as I was more into 90210 because I was 10 at the time. I just didn't care about the more adult storylines and themes. With the exception of Amy Locane who is absolutely horrible (and only lasted on season) as actress/waitress Sandy Harling, the rest of the cast is great and works well together. I could have also done without the lame 90210 crossover story with Kelly and Jake which spanned at least the first four episodes. Much like the first season of 90210, the first season of Melrose features less story arch episodes and more standalone episodes. I was expecting much more controversial, cutting edge (for the time at least) drama which apparently comes in later seasons. Doug Savant was, and is still, one of the sexiest men on television, in my opinion so him being a gay man helped as well.
