{movie} invincible (2006)

Average Joe and devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan Vince Papale (Mark Wahlberg) manages to land a spot on his favorite NFL team in open tryouts. He's just lost his wife and his job as a substitute teacher, but by impressing the coach and winning a place on the field, Papale turns a terrible year into a winner in this inspiring film (based on a true story) from the producers of the similar, baseball-themed The Rookie.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** A very good movie with a great story, albeit a bit reminicent of the baseball movie, The Rookie: old man on hard times tries out, odds are against him, makes the team, everything works out. While I'm not a football fan, this was a very good movie. A little slow at times, and the football scenes as with all sports scenes in all sports movies bored me a bit, but overall a very good film. Greg Kinnear, as always, is wonderful and Mark Walberg surprises me again. I can't believe how Marky Mark has grown.

I love football movies but this movie wasn't good at all. I was stuck watching it flying from Philly to Vegas. BORING!
