{movie} pirates of the caribbean: dead man's chest (2006)

Director Gore Verbinksi takes to the high seas to helm the continuing adventures of swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), young Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and headstrong beauty Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley). Once again, the trio returns to the realm of the supernatural as Jack tries to weasel his way out of a blood debt with the ghostly Davey Jones (Bill Nighy), who threatens the wily skipper with eternal damnation if he welshes.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: ** (Actually 2.5) I don't remember being blown away by the first movie, but I do remember liking it more than this one. I agree with Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times who said "This second film is pretty much all thrills, special effects and nonstop action -- but with virtually no cohesive or compelling story line." I just don't have much of an opinion on the movie. It was just kind of there and happeneing. It was just all right. And did it really need two and a half hours. The story, or lack thereof, could have been told in two hours easily. I certainly Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End can deliver more story than this movie did.

I was surprised that this movie was sooooo dissapointing. What happened? The first one was pretty good and entertaining. This one was basically means to producing a third movie.
