{television} millennium; season one (1996)

X-Files creator Chris Carter is the man behind this equally fascinating (if not as long-running) series about a retired serial-killer profiler (Lance Henriksen) who joins a special group formed to protect the innocent from the forces of darkness. This collection includes all 22 episodes of the first season; Sarah-Jane Redmond and Meghan Gallagher co-star.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: ** (Actually 2.5) I kind of like this show...at times. There were some great episodes and some real stinkers. Overall, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but at the end of the day it was still background noise more than anything else. I'm not a huge X-Files fan and was worried that this would be too X-Files, being that it was created by Chris Carter, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it was more like CSI than X-Files. The first couple of episodes were great, but halfway through the season the wheels kind of fell off and there were more bad, nay boring, episodes than good episodes. I did start to lose a little interest towards the end of the season, and while the season finale was pretty bad and didn't leave me wanting more as a cliffhanger should, but I'll still think I'll check out the second season.

I'll agree that this show had some slow moments tyhis first season,m but definitely worth more than two stars. These serial killer shows thata re commonplace now, had no business being on Prime Time TV in the late 90's. Millennium paved the way for crazy murder investigation shows like CSI and Serial Killer Drama like Dexter. And then the NEXT season it flipped it on its ear my taking an even scarier supernatural route. Much, Much Better than X-Files ever was.
