{television} nightmares and dreamscapes; season one (2006)

Dim the lights and get ready for spine-tingling suspense with this collection of eight spooky tales from horror maestro Stephen King. Featuring cutting-edge special effects and an all-star cast, each story will take you on a twisted trip to the dark side. Performers include Oscar nominees William H. Macy, William Hurt and Tom Berenger, along with Jeremy Sisto, Ron Livingston, Samantha Mathis, Kim Delaney, Steven Weber and many more.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: **** Stephen King does it again. The Masters of Horror series could learn ALOT from this TNT series as it's vastly superior to the Showtime series. Every story is well told, well filmed, and well acted. While I enjoyed some more than others, I was wonderfully surprised overall as I don't always like all of Stephen King's movies and was worried I wouldn't like the series at all. The first half of the season was better than the second half as I really enjoyed Battlegrond, Crouch End, Umney's Last Case, and The End of the Whole Mess. However, The Road Virus Heads North and The Fifth Quarter were the worst of the bunch (even though I love Jeremy Sisto) and almost made me lose faith in the series which I had fallen in love with. Autopsy Room Four made up for those two lackluster episodes and You Know They Got A Hell Of A Band was a nice way to close the episode.
