{television} america's next top model; season one (2003)

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** I'm not into fashion or models or anything of the like at all. None of the girls in the show struck me as especially gorgeous at first look. They are pretty, but not like jaw dropping, amazingly beautiful without being really made up. I prefer women who are naturally beautiful (and there are a ton out there who don't need ten pounds of makeup to be gorgeous). The reason Tyra Banks is a supermodel is because she is naturally gorgeous. Even with ten pounds of makeup some of these girls just aren't gorgeous. As for the judges, Janice Dickinson was fun and the others were forgettable and easily replaceable and not missed in future seasons. The worst of them all is J. Alexander who is such a nasty queen it's gross. But it doesn't even matter because there is no doubt that this was Tyra Banks' vehicle. As for the models, Elyse was my early favorite because she was different and real, but she was like scary skinny and I knew she wasn't going to win, plus she didn't really want it either at least at first. Robin was my least favorite as she was highly offensive and pushy with her religious views. Isn't it against God's word to be scantly clad and photographed? I guess that's not a sin. Oh well, judge not lest you be judged or some such Biblical nonsense. I can honest say, I understand why this was a hit as it is highly addictive.
