{television} gene simmons' family jewels (2006)

Thrusting his tongue and in full makeup, Gene Simmons performs with his rock band Kiss, but on his more dressed-down days, he's just another soccer dad. This A&E reality series proves it. Stepping into the home of Simmons and former Playmate of the Year Shannon Tweed (his partner of 23 years), "Family Jewels" reveals a shockingly normal side to the notorious rocker, who's raised two well-behaved and well-groomed teenagers (Nick and Sophie).

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** Let's start with the fact that I don't like KISS at all! I think they wear makeup and weird costumes and use fireworks in their concerts to cover up their complete and total lack of talent. With that said, there's no denying their success. While Gene Simmons just rubs me the wrong way and I don't think we would ever get along if we were to meet (he's just a weirdo to me), the most shocking discovery is how normal and what a wonderful mother Shannon Tweed. I had never known that much about her before this show, but she seems like a really great person. The kids also seem really grounded an normal, not like those Osbourne kids. This family is the opposite of the Osbournes. With the exception of Gene Simmons, who isn't as cool as he thinks he is, the family is a pretty normal family.

I'm not a Kiss fan at all but it was interesting to get a peek into Gene Simmons family. The show was pretty funny and reminded me of a "normal" family. Oh and all dads think they are "cool"
