{television} weeds; season two (2006)

Upper-class suburbanite Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) takes her creativity to, er, new heights in this single-camera Showtime dramedy about a single mom who becomes a drug dealer to make ends meet. In the show's second season, Nancy finds out her new boyfriend (Martin Donovan) is a DEA agent; Conrad (Romany Malco) starts his own grow house; and Andy (Justin Kirk) loses a few toes.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: **** Almost better than the first season. Not better, but almost. The cast continues their wonderfulness especially Mary-Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins. Kevin Nealon, whom I've never been a big fan of, grew on me as Doug Wilson. Tonye Patano shines as Heylia James. I also enjoyed the Isabelle Hodes character (portrayed by Allie Grant) sticking it to her mother Celia Hodes (portrayed by Elizabeth Perkins). However, the storyline involving Mary-Louis Parker's character and the DEA Agent Peter Scottson (portrayed by Martin Donovan) left a lot to be desired, although I understand the need for it. I just don't like Donovan as an actor that much or the Scottson character at all. The idea of her being involved with a DEA agent was great, but the execution was horrible. However, the season ended on such an amazing note (much better than the first season's finale) and I can't wait for the third season.
