Social worker Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre) and her family take in a mysterious teen, Kyle (Matt Dallas), who can't speak, views the world with childlike innocence, has no traceable background … and lacks a belly button. Matt Dallas is perfectly cast as the "lost in the world", "is he or isn't he an alien" boy who suddenly appears in the woods and gets taken in by a family that he becomes a part of. Dallas is cute in a weird, mysterious way which makes him even more perfectly cast as the mysterious, "is he or isn't he an alien" alien or clone or whatever he's supposed to be.
