{television} monk; season four (2005)

Brilliant but obsessive-compulsive detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub, winning his third Emmy for the role) is back to crack San Francisco's toughest crimes in this hit series co-starring Ted Levine and Traylor Howard. This time around, Monk competes with a disgustingly sloppy rival detective, goes undercover as an office worker, poses as Santa Claus to catch a killer and faces the possibility that his beloved wife is still alive.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** Another great season with more great mysteries. The cast is wonderful and Tony Shalhoub is excellent. Traylor Howard's character has grown on me. (I love her as an actress, but the removal of Sharona was painful as I really loved her character.) Laurie Metcalf got another Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her guest role in "Mr. Monk Bumps His Head." (Her first nomination was for her guest role in Third Rock From The Sun.) I absolutely love the situations the writers put the obsessive compulsive Monk character in.
