{movie} aurora borealis (2005)

Haunted by his father's unsettling death, twenty-something Duncan (Joshua Jackson) tries to create a more stable life when he takes a handyman job at the senior residence where his paternal grandparents (Louise Fletcher and Donald Sutherland) live. It doesn't take long before freedom-loving Duncan feels trapped, but he makes every effort to connect with his deteriorating grandfather and finds solace with feisty caretaker Kate (Juliette Lewis).

ireviewnetflix.com rating: ** Josh Jackson proves he's still one of the most underrated young actors in Hollywood as he stars with Donald Sutherland and Juliette Lewis. The rest of the supporting cast including Louise Fletcher, Tyler Labine, and Zack Ward is also wonderful, but not even this excellent cast could save the horrible slow pacing and overall lacking story. The acting is phenomenal, but the casting is the only positive thing about this film.
