{television} bosom buddies; season one (1980)

After their building is condemned, two New York admen disguise themselves as women so they can move into the one apartment they can afford. The simple premise makes for plenty of laughs in this popular but short-lived sitcom, best remembered for providing Tom Hanks with his first big role. In the role of Kip/Buffy, the future megastar shares the small screen with Peter Scolari as Henry/Hildy. The show also stars Donna Dixon and Wendie Jo Sperber.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: **** (Actually 3.5) The first thing I noticed was that the theme was different on the DVD than in the original series: a new song "Shake Me Loose" replaces the original "My Life" by Billy Joel. I actually prefer the new song and I think it's a great 80s theme song. I miss those days and those themes. Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari were great together and Hanks was defiantly a star in the making. The concept is a little out there, but wonderfully, comically executed. The supporting cast was amazing including the late, and very missed, Wendie Jo Sperber, the stellar Holland Taylor whom I've always been in love with, and the great Thelma Houston who went on to star in Family Matters.
