{television} 30 rock; season one (2006)

"Saturday Night Live" alum Tina Fey stars as Liz Lemon, the lead writer on a live TV variety show, in this workplace sitcom co-starring Jane Krakowski, fellow "SNL" player Tracy Morgan and the scene-stealing, charisma-oozing Alec Baldwin (in a Golden Globe-winning role). When brash network executive Jack Donaghy (Baldwin) shows up on the scene to pep up the show, he unnerves the cast and crew with his meddlesome ways -- among them hiring a whacked-out movie star (Morgan).

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** While I like Tina Fey, I was a bit disappointed by this series. It was all right, but I was hoping for more I guess from Fey. The rest of the cast is just all right and I was only slightly entertained. I can not believe this show was renewed for a second season.

How did you review this when Netflix won't have the DVDs until September?

It's called a television show. I watched it on television. Actually, I downloaded the episodes from the net, but it's basically the same concept, only without commercials so it's actually more like the DVDs anyway. Plus, I don't watch bonus features so I didn't need to wait for the DVDs to be released to review the core of the DVDs, the show.
