{television} smallville; season two (2002)

The hit TV series that puts an intriguing spin on the Superman lore returns for a thrilling second season. As young Clark Kent struggles to figure out his place in the world and keep his alien powers under control, he must also deal with trials of being a teenager in small-town USA. Among the highlights of this season: Lex gets married, Martha and Jonathan receive miraculous news, and Pete becomes privy to Clark's secret.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** My review for the first season remains the same for the second season. There were a few good episodes, but overall I continue to not be hooked nor that impressed. There are a few good episodes, but, as with the first season, there are only a few standouts that I really enjoyed and will remember. The show is still too melodramatic. The Clark vs. the freak of the week storylines are still the most interesting. Almost every episode is great when it comes to the Clark vs. the freak of the week storylines, but the melodrama always ruins it for me. However, I will say this for the show: the appearance of the late, great Christopher Reeve was, to say the least, historic and very well done. And I will give this to the writers of Smallville: they do season finale cliffhangers better than anyone else. Another incredible season finale left me wanting more.
