{television} eureka; season one (2006)

The premiere season of this quirky sci-fi series kicks off with stranded U.S. Marshal Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) wandering into a remote town populated by geniuses, a not-so-sleepy hamlet harboring a slew of government secrets and bizarre mysteries. Assuming the duties of sheriff, Carter navigates the strange goings on in Eureka, including alien abductions, control-freak computers, poisonous pollens and more.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: **** (Actually 3.5) The pilot was HORRIBLE! I mean, one of the worst episodes of television I've seen in a long time and it really made me wonder how the show ever got greenlighted. But the show did get better as it went on. By the fifth episode of the season, "Invincible," I got hooked...a little. By the sixth episode of the season, "Dr. Nobel" (a great episode) I was hooked. The cast wasn't that great and didn't have the greatest chemistry at first, but is got better as the show went on. It has a lot more work to do to improve (maybe some cast changes), but I will definantly check out the second season.
