{television} extreme engineering; transatlantic tunnel (2004)

Though the massive railway project envisioned by engineers in this Discovery Channel documentary may sound futuristic, they contend the venture isn't as unfeasible as it sounds. Their plan? To traverse the Atlantic Ocean with a rail line between Canada and Scotland. Boasting three tunnels with magnetic tracks that will "float" trains from one continent to the other, the scheme mixes sci-fi genius and real-world practicality. But can it work?

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** This is perhaps the most fun episode of Extreme Engineering to consider as it's potential could change transcontinental travel forever and impact the world and everyday life in ways unimaginable.
