{television} extreme engineering; tunneling under the alps (2004)

The Alps rise above hamlets and cities like a benevolent ruler. But to Europe's citizens, the mountains are also barriers that must be navigated to go from place to place, a feat not easily achieved by land. The building of the 56-mile AlpTransit Tunnel, however, means easier travel for Europeans and foreign tourists. This Discovery Channel documentary offers a look at the construction process as engineers struggle to make their vision a reality.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** Another episode of the Extreme Engineering series that doesn't really interest me therefore it kind of bored me, but it's still an interesting show and this was another educational episode in the series, just not as interesting as other episodes. However, if ever fully realized it would be an amazing series of tunnels connecting all of Europe of which this tunnel will be one piece.
