{television} hidden palms; season one (2007)

A year after his father's suicide, troubled teen Johnny (Taylor Handley) is adjusting to life with his mother and new stepfather in a gated Palm Springs, Calif., community. It doesn't take long for Johnny to learn that all is not what it seems in his new neighborhood, which turns out to be teeming with dark secrets. This teen drama is written by Kevin Williamson, creator of "Dawson's Creek" and the Scream films.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: **** Man, Kevin Williamson does it again, but this time America doesn't get it like they got Dawson's Creek. The show was cancelled after only eight episodes. It gradually evolved from being a pretty good show to a great show. Michael Cassidy is hot (totally my type) and Taylor Handley is cute (not really my type, but cute). Leslie Jordan, as always, is wonderful as Jesse Jo and it was great to see Sharon Lawrence as Tess Wiatt. D.W. Moffett and Gail O'Grady are also great as Johnny Miller's parents. Poor J.D. Pardo, who stars in Hidden Palms as Eddie Nolan, can't seem to get cast in a hit as both midseason replacement shows Drive and Hidden Palms were quickly cancelled.
