{television} who wants to be a superhero; season one (2006)

Mere mortals don ridiculous costumes to prove that they're superheroes in the flesh in this family-friendly reality series judged and executive-produced by comic book icon Stan Lee, who co-created the Spider-Man serial. Among the show's contestants are a doughnut-chomping single mother called Fat Momma, a tree-climbing financial investor known as Monkey Woman and a bodyguard who's dubbed himself the Iron Enforcer.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** Stan Lee really shouldn't be encouraging these people. Fat Momma was an early favorite and I'm glad she made it as far as she did. Major Victory was hot, but what a tool. Levity was cute, but who wants a gay superhero who's in a relationship. I want my gay superhero to be super, sexy, and single (but capable of commitment...with me!). :) There was some debate on the internet as to whether or not The Iron Enforcer, who was just lame (and a really bad actor), was chosen from the beginning by Stan Lee to be a villain to give the show a villain. Come on! Are you serious?! The entire show is fixed. It was different, but just all right. The challenges were interesting. The show was fun, but it was just another "reality" show.
