{television} rules of engagement; season one (2007)

A group of friends, all at various stages in their relationships, navigate the twists and turns of commitment, romance, dating and marriage in this charming CBS sitcom featuring funnyman David Spade as the perpetually single dude of the bunch. Oliver Hudson and Bianca Kajlich star as recently engaged couple Adam and Jennifer, and Megyn Price and Patrick Warburton (Puddy, of "Seinfeld" fame) play a long-married couple.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: **** David Spade is always enjoyable. Not the funniest person ever, but always enjoyable. The show was equally enjoyable and I'm glad it was picked up for a second season, but I'm worried about it's long-term potential. The show lost almost 40% of its audience between the pilot and the last episode of the first season, only six episodes later. It seems to have that classic sitcom feel, but it'll need to regain its audience if it wants to have a long run. It could be another sitcom to be picked up for a second season only to die a quick death during its sophomore season. I wish it the best, but I'm worried. Megyn Price is great. I loved her in "Grounded for Life" and liked her in this as well. Patrick Warburton is always the guy who seems like he won't be funny when you look at him, but he always manages to be hilarious.
