{television} wonder woman; season one (1976)

The Wonder Woman series spawned not only a large number of Halloween costumes but also a colony of young girls aspiring to be just like the beautiful fighting machine. The first season of the wildly popular television show aired from 1976-1977, and the 90-minute pilot episode (also included here) debuted in 1975. See firsthand why bringing to life this comic book character garnered such a unique and passionate following.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: **** (Actually 3.5) It's World War II and there are apparently more Nazis in America then than there are Mexicans in America today. That aside, this series was so much fun! It was much better than I thought it was going to be and I was pleasantly surprised. A great pilot gave way to a very good season of stories and challenges for Wonder Woman. There were some winners (like the pilot and the two-part episodes Feminium Mystique and Judgement from Outer Space, which was very reminiscent of one of my favorite movies of all-time, The Day The Earth Stood Still) and some stinkers (like the one with the gorilla), but overall the show is a solid hit. Lynda Carter was wonderful as Wonder Woman and Lyle Waggoner is also very good as Major Steve Trevor.
