{television} eight simple rules for dating my teenage daughter; season one (2002)

John Ritter ("Three's Company") and Katey Sagal ("Married … with Children") star as harried husband-and-wife team Paul and Cate Hennessy in this ABC family sitcom about the rules of raising adolescents. In the show's first season, Cate decides to go back to work as a nurse, prompting Paul to take a more active role in raising their teenage daughters, Bridget and Kerry (Kaley Cuoco and Amy Davidson), and son, Rory (Martin Spanjers).

ireviewnetflix.com rating: **** (Actually 4.5) This show could have been a classic and if the first season was any indication, if John Ritter had lived, it could have gone on forever. Ritter, who was television magic, will never be duplicated and is greatly missed. Whether it was Three's Company, Hearts Afire, or 8 Simple Rules, he made sitcom comedy look easy. It was just natural for him and he was a natural at it. The cast is great, even the kids, who actually contribute genuine comic moments to this show, unlike the kids in so many other sitcoms. Katey Sagal is also great, as always.
