{movie} the nanny diaries (2007)

College-educated Annie Braddock (Scarlett Johansson) gets a crash course in child care when she plays nanny to the 4-year-old son of grossly dysfunctional parents (Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti). Directed by Shari Springer Berman (American Splendor), this all-star comedy was adapted from the best-selling novel by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, who based their book on their experiences working for Manhattan's wealthiest families.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** I don't know, something was missing from this movie for me. It was all right, but not as good as I was expecting. Laura Linney is wonderful as the self-obsessed, self-indulgent mother. What's so sad is that what happens in this movie happens in real life everyday. Chris Evans is gorgeous as always, but something was empty about his character's relationship with Scarlett Johansson's character. Almost like it was there just to have her be in a relationship. I would have much rather seen a documentary about this subject.
