{movie} rambo (2008)

When governments fail to act on behalf of captive missionaries, ex-Green Beret John James Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) sets aside his peaceful existence along the Salween River in a war-torn region of Thailand to take action. Although he's still haunted by violent memories of his time as a U.S. soldier in Vietnam, Rambo is unable to turn his back on the aid workers who so desperately need his help.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: * This was easily the worst of the Rambo series. First of all, I feel little sympathy for the people Rambo is trying to save so maybe that's the biggest issue. Certainly not a good starting point. Much like the Christian missionaries going into Muslim countries during times of war and being held hostage, I feel little sympathy for these missionaries going into war torn Thailand. You're just asking for it. Not that something shouldn't be done about the injustices going on in Burma, but that's for the military, not Bible thumpers. I just couldn't relate to the story or the characters and didn't care about either. The movie was pointless at times and quite often unnecessarily brutality. Unlike other Rambo movies, especially the first Rambo movie, there just wasn't a point. I was almost completely bored for the entire hour and a half I suffered through this garbage.
