{television} stargate atlantis; season three (2006)

Sanatoriums, parallel universes and more evil plots hatched by the Wraiths highlight Season 3 of the popular sci-fi series, which chronicles the adventures of Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson), Lt. Col. John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) and the rest of the Atlantis crew. Guest stars include Beau Bridges, David Ogden Stiers and a special appearance by Richard Dean Anderson, the star of "Stargate SG-1," the series that spun off "Stargate Atlantis."

ireviewnetflix.com rating: *** I enjoyed this season as much as the last season. I still hate the Ronon character and could do without him entirely. I loved the Dr. Carson Beckett character (I wish Paul McGillion had gotten the role of Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in Star Trek XI) and was shocked and actually cried during the end of the "Sunday" episode. A horribly boring episode made even worse with (but oddly improved by) an extremely, devastatingly sad ending. The rest of the cast is still great (especially David Hewlett as Dr. Rodney McKay) and the show is enjoyable. Favorite episodes this season include the season premier "No Man's Land," "Progeny," "The Real World," "Common Ground," "McKay and Mrs. Miller," the two part episode "The Return," "Tao of Rodney," "The Game," and the season finale "First Strike."
